OCity Data License

How OCity’s curated collection, original analysis and public-source inputs may be used.

Effective July 17, 2026

Clear layers

OCity materials and source data are treated separately.

Personal use

Ordinary research and reasonable quotation are welcome.

No bulk republication

Commercial extraction requires written permission.

1. Scope

This Data License applies to the OCity US City Reference Collection and to data-oriented content, tables, rankings, normalized fields, derived presentation and related materials published by OCity. It works together with the Terms of Use.

2. OCity Materials

“OCity Materials” include OCity’s original editorial writing, selection and arrangement of the collection, normalization and derived presentation, scoring logic, taxonomies, interfaces, visualizations, branding and software. Except for limited permissions below, these materials are all rights reserved.

3. Third-party and public-source data

Underlying facts and records may come from the U.S. Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, National Weather Service, government agencies, school districts, transit providers, public-safety agencies and other sources. OCity does not claim ownership of those third-party materials and does not relicense them. Their original terms, attribution requirements and applicable law continue to govern.

4. Permitted use

You may view and use public OCity pages for personal, non-commercial research; link to a page; and quote limited excerpts or individual figures with clear “OCity” attribution and a link to the source page. Search engines may index public pages consistently with OCity’s robots and access controls.

5. Permission required

Written permission is required for bulk extraction, automated collection outside published controls, substantial republication, database mirroring, commercial resale, syndication, redistribution of a material portion, removal of provenance, or creation of a competing product. Permission is also required to build a training, fine-tuning, retrieval, evaluation or benchmarking dataset from substantial extraction of OCity Materials.

6. No implied API or download license

Publishing a page or structured-data description does not create a public API, bulk-download right or continuing access commitment. OCity may change routes, fields, access controls and update schedules.

7. Attribution

Where limited quotation is permitted, identify OCity and link to the specific page. Keep source labels and material limitations visible. Attribution does not expand the scope of permitted reuse.

8. Dynamic data and no warranty

The collection contains mixed-vintage public references, editorial snapshots, modeled estimates and derived metrics. Values may change and may not describe an exact property, person or future outcome. The materials are provided “as is” without a warranty of accuracy, completeness, currency, availability or fitness for a particular purpose.

9. Corrections and source rights

If a source provider identifies a rights, attribution or accuracy issue, contact OCity so the relevant material can be reviewed. OCity may correct, annotate, restrict or remove material at any time.

10. Commercial permission

For commercial reuse, syndication, research partnerships or a separately negotiated data license, contact hello@ocity.org with the intended fields, volume, audience, access method and distribution plan.

11. License URL

Important: This license governs OCity’s rights and permissions only. It does not replace licenses or public-domain rules attached to an original data provider.
